Slow stitch, Kantha and Sashiko

The way in which stitch has been used to hold cloth together, whether it be darning or decoration will inform the items we make during the day. You'd be amazed how many day to day ingredients can transform fabrics by adding exciting colours. Some dye baths will be already made up, others you will create yourself. Learn about mordants and techniques to fix the colours. At the end of the day you will have a recipe book full of ideas to take this kind of 'cooking' further. There may even be time to create a small item from some of your lovely fabric.

Embellished Mandala Textile Art

During this workshop, embroidery artist Jessica Grady will teach you a selection of her contemporary and colourful mixed media embroidery and embellishment techniques to create your own unique mandala design. Modular and Entrelac Knitting, with Judith Shur

Both Modular and Entrelac Knitting give the effect of a knitted patchwork. Modular knitting involves making individual units and joining them together by picking up stitches along one edge of another unit. Entrelac knitting creates lots of blocks looking like interwoven diamonds which are joined together as you knit.
